What should I tell my children who are fat?

That they are worthy. That they are loved. That their bodies are not problems to be solved but homes to be honored.

Unique Gibson, founder of the SuperSize Your Life Expo, knows firsthand the weight of growing up fat in a world that often sees size before it sees soul. A retired social worker and mental health counselor specializing in juvenile delinquency, she has spent her life advocating for those who feel unseen, unheard, and unprotected.
Her workshop, "What Should I Tell My Children Who Are Fat?", is a must-attend session for parents seeking to create a safe, loving, and affirming home for their plus-size children. Too often, well-meaning parents place the burden of weight loss on their kids, unknowingly leaving them with lifelong wounds. This powerful, candid discussion will help parents shift their perspective, foster body confidence, and build healthier habits that serve the whole family—without shame, guilt, or harm.
Raising a child in a larger body comes with unique challenges, but no child should ever have to question if they are loved exactly as they are. Join us for a conversation that may be difficult, emotional, and, most importantly, transformative.

1 in 9 women and people assigned female at birth have Lipedema. Most don’t know it.
For most of her life, Brena Jean didn’t either. But when she finally received her diagnosis at 38—after years of medical dismissal and misdiagnosis—it wasn’t just a revelation; it was a revolution.
Determined to break the cycle of invisibility, Brena turned her pain into purpose, amassing over 9 million viewers on TikTok with her raw and riveting storytelling. Through humor, heart, and hard-hitting truths, she educates and empowers, ensuring that no Lipedema warrior has to walk this road alone.
But Brena’s mission doesn’t stop with awareness. As a healthcare advocate and cultural commentator, she amplifies the voices of Black women, Latinx women, Asian women, immigrants, trans men, and non-binary individuals who are too often left out of the Lipedema conversation. Her intersectional approach challenges the status quo, demanding dignity, access, and liberation for all who battle this condition.
At SSYL Expo Atlanta’s Warriors Wing, Brena will step into her role as The Voice of the Warrior, sharing her story of hurdles and triumphs in a way that only she can. Her words will uplift, unite, and ignite, reminding every warrior in the room that their fight is valid, their struggles are seen, and their future is filled with hope.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll walk away changed. This is the moment you’ve been waiting for. Don’t miss it.
